I have a reissue 60 start, I relic out anything stupid as it trails behind a car?
The classical guitar is a Fender 60 players start, has all the details of the models of the 60s ... mint pickguard, spaghetti logo, headstock shape, tuners kluson ... ect ... high gloss but is a clear indication of its not really from the 60s. I have things mostly want this time and look at my collection and when I'm on stage that nobody will ever know I did not bring along my pre-CBS exit
James, such as nitrocellulose ages, it tends to recede into the wood, giving the instrument a more subdued appearance. To simulate the appearance of the finish (especially polyurethane) could use some "Super Fine" 0000 steel wool on the body of the guitar (try it in the back first, to make sure you like the effect.) The areas where more aggressive wear can be rubbed. I would strongly suggest removing the pickguard assembly and all hardware before using this technique, in the form of tiny particles of metal, they will all parties! You can also use grain sandpaper 1000, but more attention is necessary to avoid sanding all the way to the end (the surface "clouds" quickly, and you can not see how far you have gone). Use a vacuum or compressed air the body and neck before reassembly. As for the addition of other surface defects, is against my nature to intentionally ruin an instrument, however, the rounded edge of a crescent wrench heavy spring to mind! Sincerely, Dana
