P bass sounds horrible when picked in area near pickup and bridge?
I am planning on buying a new bass because my squier p bass affinity which i bought like a year ago sounds very thin when i play in the areas between the pickup and the bridge. Everyone ive seen picks near that area and it all sounds clear and deep. At first i thought it was just because i was hearing the bass itself and now the sound coming from the amp but i was wrong, the overall sound sounds thin so that means that everyone who hears it also hears it as a thin sound. I am also using a fender 15 watt rumble amp if that helps. So, for my next bass what should i look for so i will not experience this? Should i buy something with higher output pickups? Maybe better strings like hybrid slinkys? Or maybe its the bridge, i have heard the leo quan badass bridge greatly improves the sound of a bass but i do not know in what way. Please dont leave comments like "Don't use a pick!" and stuff i know, i dont always pick its just when i do it has that very annoying thin sound.
if i were u i would spend the money and get a good bass, it all pays off for in the future, u get wat u pay for. as for ur current bass i would use thicker gauge strings and dont use a pick, if it is ur bridge ur strings could be to low or evan to high and just be hard to play.
