Brigher sound out of a les paul?!?
So basically i have an epiphone les paul with two closed coil humbuckers. To be honest, i actually wanted more of a brighter sounding guitar, but i just loved this les paul. I hear maybe if i take the covers off, it could produce a higher output brighter sound, anyone know if it would make a significant difference. In the long term though, i really want a new set of humbucking pickups, preferably closed coil ones. Anyone know of a good pair?! Or, would it possible to buy an open coil pair and then put the cover from my old set onto them?!
Thanks in advance
The entire reason for LPs are for mellow sounds.
But if you must:
Change out for some single-coil pickups or fender like pickups. Ask the people at your closest guitar store for help on that (sorry I'm not as great with my pickups).
Change out your strings for some lighter gauge electric strings also. That will also give you a really nice thin sound.
Change your amp so that you turn up your tremble and down your bass. Mids shouldn't matter. Mess with your tone nobs and set your guitar to the "tremble/lead" setting.
Lastly, play near the bridge and not the neck, it will give you crisper sounds.
Do all of this and you should have a pretty thin/bright sounding Les Paul.
Sorry if I don't know more.
