The Audi 80 may be an older model but it is still very popular car to tune. Audi 80 tuning is popular because it can be quite affordable to get great results. Audi 80's were manufactured from 1966 until 2000. There are many different styles available. What Audi 80 tuning you do is going to depend on the year and engine type. Some of the older models are difficult to get parts for. You may have to go to wreckers to find the right parts. Though there are still new parts manufactured by Audi, they can be pricey.
Audi 80 tuning for maximum performance should begin with the engine and drive train. You want to get them back to near new condition as possible. A diagnostic analysis needs to be done to make sure the baseline measurements conform to standard. If possible change the chip with an aftermarket chip. This can improve the overall performance. Though some Audi 80's don't have removable chips, their entire computer will need to be removed and reprogrammed. Though there is also the option of finding a tuning workshop that can reprogram the ECU.
Its tuning can be accomplished quickly and easily. There are a lot of aftermarket products available for the different year models. Anyone doing Audi A4 tuning will want to work on the engine cooling unit. There are some important differences to keep in mind. The 1995-1997 Audi A4 versions had a longitudinally mounted engine and standard front wheel drive. It also had a 2.8 V6 engine in the US though European customers could get engines that ranged between 1.6 and 2.8 L. The 1998 to 2001 Audi A4 versions had a 6 speed gearbox and new taillights, headlights, handles and more changes in the general look. The 1.8T engine gave an output rise to 170 PS (125 kW). A 30 valve unit replaced the 12 valve V6. The 2000 to 2005 models has a B6 platform. The 1.8T 20 valve Turbo can have 150 or 180 PS. The 3.0 V6 with its 5 valves per cylinder is capable of 220 PS and 300 Nm (221 ft.lbf) of torque. 2004 and present Audi A4 versions have a new front grill and a four valve per cylinder design configuration. Each change in the different models determines what work needs to be done to provide a faster smother ride.
